Grimsby is built on fish. Its docks, its industry, its identity. The Grimsby Seafood Festival is a new annual event with a bold ambition — to celebrate the town’s rich fishing heritage while casting a line into the future.

Set against the backdrop of the iconic Ice Factory regeneration project, the festival sits within a wider mission: to future-proof Grimsby’s seafood and processing industries by fostering innovation, skills development and inclusive economic growth. That includes collaborating with local organisations working in recovery and long-term unemployment — empowering people through enterprise in the sector that put Grimsby on the map.

Our brief was to create a brand for the Grimsby Seafood Festival that complemented the identity of the Ice Factory, but stood on its own as a vibrant, community-facing celebration.

 

It needed to resonate with a wide and diverse audience — from local families and food lovers to industry leaders and policy makers — and feel as at home on a hand-painted sign as it does in a digital ad.

This wasn’t just a logo. It was a full brand system. Something bold, fresh and full of heart.

We built the brand around the core idea of “Proudly Grimsby”, a visual and tonal celebration of the town’s heritage, creativity, and coastal grit.

From typography and colour palette to illustrations and iconography, everything was designed to feel tactile, human and full of warmth — a nod to the hands-on industry and the hands that shaped it.

 

The logo is simple but characterful, equally as confident in a commercial seafood context as it is on a kid’s treasure map. Alongside it, we developed a toolkit of bespoke icons to help bring the festival’s content to life — from seafood stalls and games to live music, local makers and more.

The Result - a brand that feels rooted in place but built for the future. One that flexes across digital, print and physical environments — from festival signage and social posts to merchandise, tote bags and T-shirts.

 

More than a visual identity, the Grimsby Seafood Festival brand is a rallying cry. A celebration of what makes Grimsby unique — and an invitation to be part of where it’s going next.
